Digitization project at Herstmonceux Castle

Supervised by Dr. Andrew Moore, Dr. Claire Kennan, Pat Shaghaghi, and Emy Kim, three students completing their Masters in Arts Conversation and one in their Masters of Digital Media are collaborating in the digitization of historical artifacts at Herstmonceux Castle. In the course of their work, they are performing condition assessments, photo documentation, and cataloging to devise appropriate storage and display conditions for long term care of objects in the Visitor Centre. They are also 3D scanning, modelling and printing the objects in the hopes of making these artifacts more accessible through emerging digital technologies and in the creation of a digital archive. With this archive, they hope to preserve the historical, distinct and treasured history of the castle and the surrounding area throughout time.
