Three DRAGENs Take Flight with SSHRC Awards!

We are beyond thrilled to share that three PhD student researchers, and members of the DRAGEN Lab — Kian Drew, Gillian Wagenaar, and Étienne Chevalier — have been awarded the SSHRC Graduate Fellowship to support their doctoral research beginning Fall 2025.

This prestigious and highly competitive award is given to a limited number of students across Canada, and somehow, by some amazing stroke of luck, three landed right here in our lab. It’s an almost unheard-of feat — and a true testament to the brilliance, passion, and commitment these scholars bring to their work.
